there. I am a student at Carnegie Mellon University in my 3rd year, pursuing a Bachelors of Humanities and Arts in Fine Arts and Decision Science, with a minor in Philosophy. My aim in producing artwork is to encourage viewers to question the social and economic forces that dictate their lives, so that they can critically examine their own thoughts and actions as products of those paradigms. As a woman of color raised by immigrants in a semi-rural, predominantly white, Catholic corner of Pennsylvania, I found myself equally drawn to the drama of religious imagery and disillusioned with everything the Church stood for—compelled by the glory of the American mythos and repulsed by its hypocritical self. Through art, I try to embrace this dissonance by leveraging absurdist tools of humor, controversy, and unpredictability against traditional American and religious imagery.
